- A 24 Hrs. Urine collection is done to measure what is in your urine. It is used to check your kidney functions.
PREPARATION BEFORE TEST-
- No particular preparations are required for this test.
- Alcohol consumption is not advised before the test.
- Follow the instructions correctly that are given by your healthcare assistant.
WHY DO A PATIENT NEED THIS TEST-
A Urine examination test is performed-
- To diagnose kidney problems
- Conditions that can cause kidney disease include-
- High blood pressure
- Urinary infections
- Urinary tract blockage
- Nephrotic syndrome
- Polycystic kidney disease
- Kidney stones and many others
- To measure proteins, hormones, minerals, and other compounds
METHOD OF DOING THIS TEST IN THE DIAGNOSTICS WORLD-
- You’ll have to collect your urine for 24 hours, and this test is called 24 hours urine sample test.
- A healthcare provider or a professional in a laboratory will provide you with a container and some instructions, which will be as follows-
- You have to empty your bladder in the morning and do not collect that urine.
- For the next 24 hours, you have to collect the urine in the container given by the healthcare providers
- Keep the container in a refrigerator.
- Return the container to the laboratory as instructed.
24 HOURS URINE TEST RESULTS-
- The usual range of 24 Hrs Urine tests is 800 to 200 milliliters per day and can slightly differ among different laboratories
