ABOUT TEST-
- The 24-hour urine protein test determines how much protein is leaked into the urine and can be used to detect illness or other issues. The test is straightforward and painless.
- The test does not reveal which types of protein are present in the urine. Your doctor may also request tests such as serum and urine protein electrophoresis to determine this.
PREPARATION BEFORE TEST-
- No specific preparations required for the test.
- Alcohol consumption is not advised before the test.
- Follow the instructions correctly that are given by your healthcare assistant.
WHY DO A PATIENT NEED THIS TEST-

METHOD OF DOING THIS TEST IN DIAGNOSTICS WORLD-
URINE TEST-
- You’ll have to collect your urine for 24 hours, and this test is called 24 hours urine sample test.
- A healthcare provider or a professional in a laboratory will provide you with a container and some instructions, which will be as follows-
- You have to empty your bladder in the morning and do not collect that urine.
- For the next 24 hours, you have to collect the urine in the container given by the healthcare provider.
- Keep the container in a refrigerator.
- Return the container to the laboratory.
24 Hr URINARY PROTEIN TEST RESULTS-
- A normal test result suggests a daily protein intake of less than 150 mg.
